Rev.
Dr. John Foster, B.S, M.S., M.Div, Ph.D.
Rev. Dr. John Foster was born
October 2, 1957 and raised in Cincinnati,
Ohio. He is the third of five children. His
mother - Rosalie Jackson (deceased) - was a nurse while his father -
John Clarence Foster
(deceased) - was an automobile mechanic and a Baptist
minister. He graduated from Walnut
Hills High
School and attended Tuskegee
University in Tuskegee, Alabama
where he studied electrical engineering. Dr. Foster received his
Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering (1979) from Tuskegee University.
His graduate studies were done at Stanford University
where he received the MS degree (1980) and the Ph.D. degree (1982),
both in the field of electrical engineering. Dr. Foster continued his
studies and received his Masters of Divinity Degree from the Interdenominational Theological Center
at Turner Seminary (2003).
Rev. Dr. Foster has worked at
several corporations including Proctor and Gamble, AT&T Bell
Laboratories and IBM. However, the majority of Dr. Foster’s
professional career has been dedicated to working with Historically
Black Colleges and Universities. He has served as faculty member,
department head, dean and associate vice president at Tuskegee
University, North Carolina A&T State
University, Prairie View
A&M University
and Morehouse
College
respectively.
Rev. Dr. John Foster is an
ordained minister and pastor in the African Methodist Episcopal Church. After he accepted his call to the
ministry Dr. Foster has served as pastor of local charges in North Carolina (St. Stephens AME), Texas (Williams
Chapel AME, Hope AME) and Georgia (Pleasant Hill AME, Rock Temple AME).
Dr. Foster was appointed as pastor of St. Philip AME Church in Savannah, Georgia in June 2004.
Rev. Dr. John Foster has three
children - Kristina Marie Rose Foster, John Foster, Jr. and Jessica
Rose Foster. He is married to the former Mary Ann Mackey of Ashburn, Georgia.
